About Adam

I'm not figured out yet either.

But I've been through enough changes to know they're a stage, not a verdict.

The short version

I spent 20 years in marketing, much of it in video games. I toured as a musician. I built businesses, and I got out of debt. I've been divorced, I've been laid off, and I've been sober for more than 20 years.

At 47, I started over on purpose and went back to school. At 50, I lost 60 pounds. I'm a single dad and a longtime Zen practitioner.

None of that makes me an expert on your life. It does mean I know what the middle feels like: the part where the old way is gone and the new way isn't clear. People tell me I have a calming effect. They also tell me I'm funny, which I choose to believe. This is serious work, but I don't take myself too seriously, and I hope you won't either. Laughing at the hard stuff is often where it starts to loosen.

Becoming a therapist, too

I'm in my final year of a counseling master's at the University of Houston, working toward my Texas license as a professional counselor. My counseling work happens separately, under clinical supervision. Coaching here is coaching only, but everything I'm learning about how people change makes me a better coach.

How I coach

Honest, unhurried, practical, and usually with a few laughs. We get clear on what matters to you, then create steps you can start that same day, if you want to. I'll ask good questions, tell you the truth, and never rush you.

I also run gamingcareers.gg, helping people build careers in the game industry. If you're a game developer rethinking what's next, you're very welcome here.
